Letters to the editor: Redevelopment Issues

What are they doing?
During the Azusa City Council meeting of July 20, the Council in an unprecedented action took an unethical and very unprofessional stand to remove all of the Planning Commissioners with a vote of 4-1 with Mayor Rocha the only one voting against this.
Two days later City Manager Fran DeLach had a letter printed in the Tribune, regarding the Vulcan Materials Amendment and how his staff is obligated to process it objectively. Is this a facade to cover incompetence or will the City Council's action provide an easy scapegoat if something goes wrong in connection with Vulcan's application?
On another issue, the residents of Azusa should be asking staff and the Council about all of the undeveloped property owned by the Azusa Redevelopment Agency and the cost that the agency has invested (over $53 million) of your tax monies to revitalize the Downtown District. What is the delay on finishing up these projects? Remember the lack of revitalization goes back more than 10 years.
What about Target?
Is Target coming or not coming to Azusa?
After paying over $18 million for the Target site and removing a market, this just adds to the list of unfinished business.
Please don't get me started on "Block 36" which is the corner of Azusa Avenue and Foothill Boulevard. Although the redevelopment agency attempted to negotiate a mixed-used project, the negotiations were unsuccessful.
This also cost the people of Azusa more money after they paid to relocate utilities on the site to make way for an underground parking structure, which might not get built.
